Music

I started piano lessons before kindergarten (with my father initially). Since then I have been having lessons in at least two instruments at any given time.
Music is a very methodical and logical activity, yet artistic. I connected with it immediately and even like music theory! My journey involved exploring many different instruments in the orchestra, all while strengthening my piano foundation. I also like playing with a band or orchestra and contributing to a team effort to make harmonies.
I am currently playing:
Piano
I perform at several recitals and church services each year, and play accompaniments for soloists. I tutored my younger brother, as needed in-between his lessons. I’ve had piano lessons since 2012 (since I was five).
French Horn / Mellophone
I was a member of the Illinois Music Education Association (ILMEA) Orchestra in my junior year and the ILMEA Band senior year. I was in the highest band (of four) in OPRF during my junior and senior years, the OPRF orchestra (when winds were needed) in my junior year, OPRF marching band in my first year, and FOPC Brass Quartet since 2022.
I switched from first chair trumpet in band in 2020 (after 5.5 years of lessons) to learn French horn with encouragement from my band director, as the band needed more French horn players. Since I was the best trumpet player, he thought that I should be able to pick up the French horn more quickly. I was second chair trumpet at the highest band at the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, MI in 2019. I also performed at numerous church services.
Bell Choir
I frequently perform during FOPC services and community concerts. I am a member of the Senior High Bell Choir, and a go-to substitute for the Adult and Junior Bell Choirs.
Other Instruments
I also took violin and cello lessons for a year each, played recorders (soprano, alto, and bass) for four years and took individual lessons in various other wind instruments.
