Helping my Grandparents

I am very close with my grandparents in Sweden. My grandfather (I’ve called him “Bu” since I said my very first words) and I are very similar, and I like working alongside him on his various projects around their house and summer cottage in the woods.
Except for the COVID years, our family has traveled to Sweden every summer. As soon as I was old enough to travel on my own, I have been going earlier and staying longer since I knew that they needed more in-home care each year.
I help them with lots of things around their home and garden, I perform yardwork, handyperson work, tech installation/support, and caretaking duties. This year I am excited to take two woodworking classes at OPRF so I can help even more with their projects as Bu’s Parkinson’s prevents him from being able to do these things. I will also soon be able to drive in Sweden so that I can run errands for them and drive them to doctor appointments.
I also provide emotional support, companionship, in person during summers and over Skype throughout the school year.
